About Sandra

Sandra grew up in the Calwa neighborhood of Fresno County learning from her immigrant parents to work hard and help others get ahead.

Sandra Celedon is the daughter of Mexican immigrants who began their lives in the U.S. as farm workers. For decades, Sandra has been a public health leader, breaking down barriers so that all residents—regardless of zip code or income—can thrive.

Sandra has led with the values her parents taught her to help thousands of families in Fresno get ahead by building a stronger local economy and creating more opportunities for students to graduate into good-paying careers, build their own businesses, or succeed in college.

Sandra is the leader with the experience to help more working families in Fresno reach the middle class.

As CEO of Fresno Building Healthy Communities, Sandra has led efforts to expand access to health care services to Fresno’s most vulnerable communities, provide safe drinking water, reduce air pollution, bring low-cost vaccines to Latino families, and get kids to school safely.

Sandra has also brought home millions of dollars in funding for our communities, including career training programs in Fresno, improving local parks and trails and expanding art afterschool programs.
